Starting Characters[edit | edit source]
When beginning a new game, the player selects which characters to join the initial squad. Six slots must be filled, one of which is a Cyber Knight and another which is the Face. Most of the other slots have multiple options.

Recruits[edit | edit source]
The squad can be expanded by recruiting new mercs to the team. Recruits can come from three sources:
- Events on the Timeline--a merc introduces a former colleague.
- Underworld Hub--the player can try to find a merc of a particular class.
- Reward for certain missions--the team becomes acquainted with someone who then wants to join.
Currently, all recruits are hand-crafted with unique backstories and traits based on those stories. Since the names are generated randomly, the only way to universally identify the characters is by their backstory.
Recruits usually start with a fraction of the Experience Points and Character Level of the current mercenaries on the team.
