Recruitment Dialog[edit | edit source]
Bandit: I understand you ran a smuggling operation out of the wasteland, and then the Leans and then from within the dome.
Kirsti: That's right. We were small but efficient crew. We could move anything, as far out as the San Francisco Radiation Zone. We were family - we ... When the successes started to come, we knit together tighter. The fifteen of us brought our people out of the slums in the Atlanta train tunnels and into the Leans. And we did two years of work with the D-Street Cartel to gain a place inside the dome without having to scrap for it. Blur But in the end, you crossed someone?
Kirsti: Smuggling is a risky business. Sometimes the payload doesn't reach the destination, sometimes it gets scooped by a rival or by zone border guards.
Bandit: The realities of your business, but not something every customer is willing to believe.
Kirsti: We got too big for our boots and stopped seeing the warning signs from customers if they waved enough money around. I shook hands on the fatal deal with a Rook Tech honcho, Corporate VP Rae Lutzberg. signed us up to die. When our smuggling run went belly up, Rae went all out war on us. I was in Atlanta when they firebombed our hang. The Rook Tech bastard's personal army gunned my people down. No one was alive when I got back, just a husk of what we had, just a lot of broken families.
Bandit: It sounds like you have revenge on the mind, Kirsti and a powerful enemy who still might want you dead. What makes your worth taking on?
Make your choice and continue:
- I know all the ways of coming and going, the Leans, the wastes and more. I'm past Street Smart, I'm zone smart. (+1 Will, +1 Initiative and +6% XP Gained)
- I've made my career using limited resources in clever ways to get things done I'm a Cunning Improviser. (+1 Tech, +3% Legwork Success and can attempt any Legwork with the base success chance of 40%)
- The shot that counts is the shot you take - and I don't miss. I'm a Dead-Eye shooter. (+2% Light Weapons Accuracy (Pistol/SMG/Revolver) and +2% Long Range Accuracy (Sniper/Railgun))
Kirsti: I've made my career using limited resources in clever ways to get things done - I'm a Cunning Improviser. You give me a problem to chew on even if it is beyond my pay-grade I'll figure it out.
Bandit: In our line of work, that can be the difference between a score and a disaster. What do you think, Blur?
Blur: I've got one more question you worked for years clawing your way up from nothing to a life in the dome before Rook Tech burn that to the ground. We know you want revenge, but you didn't leave all that behind. What baggage aren't you telling us about?
Bandit: And before you answer, let me be clear -- if you want in this company, trust is our baseline. So, even if you don't like your own answer, it better be the truth.
Make your choice and continue:
- My mistakes left a lot of families behind, a lot of open wounds. I need money to make things right, I need a 5% Pay Rate (can be reduced over time by Hype Limit Breaks).
- Even though my operation was wiped out, I'm still a known smuggler. Brave Star has a fat file on me and is eager to seeing me taken dead or alive.
Kirsti: The best scenario would be that the Rook Tech honcho, Rae, considered me dead with the others unfortunately that's not the case and it is only a matter of time before Head Hunters come knocking.
Blur: What do they say - revenge is best sprung from the shadows with a sharp knife.
Kirsti: Well, Rae Lutzberg had some corporate soldiers waiting around for my return. So she knows I'm back because I left them in a ditch riddled full of bullets.
Blur: That's a nice way to announce your intentions.
Kirsti: What would you-
Blur: Slow, slow you did what you needed to do, I can't fault you for that. But it's my job to mouth off, so we'll have to get used to each other, eh?
