The Ex-Jupiter Bodyguard is a potential recruit for the mercenary squad.

Backstory

After the 2229 megacorporate merger between Vintago and Mars Corp that resulted in the Jupiter Group, you were promoted into playing bodyguard for some powerful ex-Mars execs. When one ex-Mars splinter faction betrayed another, you were just part of the loss, to be written down as dead but instead you disappeared into the Boston Underground.

• Doorkicker 1: +3% Close-Quarters Accuracy (Shotgun/E-Rifle/UAR) and -3% Long Range Accuracy (Sniper/Railgun)
• Bull-Built 1: +2 Strength and +30 Hit Points

Recruitment Dialog allows the player to choose another Trait from the following:

• Calm 1: +1 Will, +2% Stress Res and Ignore up to 1 Recoil
• Sleuth 1: +1 Will and +3% Legwork Success
• Reliable Shot 1: +1 Will and +2% Assault Rifle Accuracy (AR)

The Soldier will start with the following Tags:

• Faction Barred: Due to bad blood and history, you are incapable of executing Legwork inside Jupiter Group territory without drawing the wrong kind of attention.
• Faction Exiled: Left Jupiter Group and burned the bridges on the way out.
• Hidden Identity: Needs to keep their old identity, from above-the-level, hidden to avoid attracting old enemies and unwanted attention.
• Megacorp Protocols: Well-informed and practiced at the rules and channels used for megacorporate security and military operations.
• Hates Traitors: Does not make any attempt to hide it, has great contempt and hatred for those who turn against their own.
• Trusts: Has established a lasting trust with <random Contact>.

Recruitment Dialog allows the player to choose an additional tag from the following:

• Protective: Is protective of <random Contact>. A longtime bodyguard for <Contact>, <Soldier> has saved <his/her> life more times than either care to count and has become personally very attached.
• De-Activated Deltaware: In your past, you went under the splicer's knife to implant megacorporate grade deltaware. Now it is deactivated, a metallic deadweight inside you. Maybe someday you can get it re-activated.
• Stolen Shadow Site Details: You stole the site details of a Jupiter Group shadow site operating far outside the bounds of corporate law. Maybe this will be leverage or maybe it will turn into a heist.

Dr. Ashe: Let me introduce Rei. After things went belly-up at Jupiter, she ended up running protection for some of my people.

Oni: So you were a corporate bodyguard during the middle of the Jupiter civil war?

Rei: You make it sound like it is over. The Vintago-Mars merger that created Jupiter is history but the civil war is really just getting started up there in those towers. In name, I was there to stop external threats but that night the killers came from inside. My charge was betrayed by another of the ex-Mars splinter factions who decided to take out a rival. I was supposed to just be collateral damage, dead with the rest of them, but I dragged myself out of there. I've been working down here with Dr. Ashe ever since.

Oni: Dr. Ashe said you were a reliable hand, a good person to have at your back.

Rei: I've proven my worth, working down here below the level. But ... It's weighing on me, that maybe my past isn't going to stay in the past.

Blur: So you're looking for a crew to watch your back?

Rei: Usually, in my line of work, I do the watching. I'm looking to get into a position of strength again. Working odd jobs for Dr. Ashe isn't my place, my real place.

Oni: Then tell us a bit more about your time with Jupiter.

Rei: I only moved into the big time gigs as the Vintago-Mars merger really gathered steam. I was born and raised Mars in the NBZ, so that's the side I was on. Everyone thinks the civil war started the day of the shareholder vote. But if you lived it, you'd know it started years before that.

Rei: The assassination started with a large explosion and ended with a cleansing fire. My tracks are pretty well covered.

Blur: How can you be sure? You're a loose end maybe carrying around incriminating evidence.
