Sniper Survivor

From Cyber Knights: Flashpoint Wiki

"Rhino", the Sniper Survivor, is a potential recruit for the mercenary squad.

Backstory[edit | edit source]

Once the sniper on Cyber Knight Burner's team, you narrowly escaped the death that took your entire team in an ambush by nemesis Ghoul. When you dragged Burner's corpse back to Octane you unwittingly helped create a new Knight. Unwilling to flee New Boston in the aftermath, the question is - do you seek revenge or just survive?

+2 Reaction, +4 Will, +2 Tech, +30 Hit Points, -15 Stress Res, +6% Long Range Accuracy (Sniper/Railgun) and +1 Initiative

Source[edit | edit source]

This Sniper can be recruited after the conclusion of the High Street Mission. The name is randomly generated, but the code name defaults to "Rhino".

The Sniper Survivor is a veteran, starting with a higher level than other recruits, possibly even higher than the existing members of the team.

Recruitment Dialog[edit | edit source]

Contact: <Recruit> officially retired ... and then did some off-the-books work for me. But now, <Recruit> wants back in the game and wants blood.

Contact: Let me introduce <Recruit>.

CK: I understand you used to work for Brave Star but you put in for retirement.

Recruit: I did my time there. I soaked the ground red with blood for them. By the end of my career, I did my time, I wanted a chance for peace. Unfortunately, the underworld wasn't ready to forget and forgive so easily.

CK: <contact> mentioned that you came back into the field because of a vendetta. You have a score you are trying to settle?

Recruit: In my final years at Brave Star, I was part of a spec ops team. We weren't hitting military targets we were hunting gang leaders among the Fenian. I made more than a few enemies - when we couldn't get our main target, sometimes we'd hit a sister, son, or a close lieutenant instead.

CK: You accumulated blood debts then

Recruit: I didn't worry enough about how they would follow me. That was Brave Star's problem. But two years after I got out, a Fenian gang boss ordered a hit on my son. I only found that part out after he was dead and I was hunting down the assassin. My son's killer died with Bubble Mac's name on his lips.

Face: So you've come out of retirement to get revenge against a Fenian Gang Boss?

Recruit: I'm not completely naive. I know Bubble Mac is surrounded by a small Fenian army. I have no hope as a lone wolf. But there is no peace for one like me anymore. The last good thing in my life was taken from me. Maybe someday, I will find a way to get revenge.

CK: In the mean time, you'd pledge to work as one of our company, even if we worked for the Fenian?

Recruit: I was a soldier for a long time. I have cordoned off the part me that wants to rip Bubble Mac's throat out with my hands. That part is in a little box. I will take orders like the soldier I've always been.

CK: Boxing can be helpful in this line of work ... <Contact> said you were one of the deadliest shots in the game. What makes you so good?

Make your choice and continue:

  • The cuffs are off - I'll take your orders like a soldier but I'll kill for you like a Vengeance Driven savage. (+1 Will, -1m Move Detection Radius and +5% Wound Res)
  • Half the battle to get the kill is hunting down the target. I'm a Cunning Improviser and always get my target. (+1 Tech, +3% Legwork Success and can attempt any Legwork with the base success chance of 40%)
  • A steady hand, a quiet mind - I can always find that perfect trajectory for the Long Shot to the head. (+1 Tech, -3% Close-Quarters Accuracy (Shotgun/E-Rifle/UAR) and +3% Long Range Accuracy (Sniper/Railgun))

Recruit: The cuffs are off - I'll take your orders like a soldier but I'll kill for you like a Vengeance Driven savage. Discipline and a thirst for blood - you won't find a better sniper under the dome.

CK: It sounds like you are eager to get back into our line of work. What do you think, <face>?

Face: I still have questions. No matter what you say, eventually Bubble Mac is going to come back into the picture, either in your sights or trying to kill you. That's a lot of baggage to know we are taking on for the team. So what makes you worth it?

CK: And before you answer, let me be clear - if you want in this company, trust is our baseline. So, even if you don't like your own answer, it better be the truth.

Recruit: I won't deny it. Bubble Mac will eventually send Head Hunters. But I'm not just dead weight -

Make your choice and continue:

  • In my time working for <Contact>, I ended up saving her life. Now she is Indebted and owes me or us - Favors.
  • When I left Brave Star, they deactivated the proprietary deltaware targeting hardwire in my spinal chord. They couldn't remove it without killing me, but together maybe we can figure out how to get it back on.
  • One of my last jobs pitted us against McKellen. In the cleanup after the hit, I stole some files on a shadow site our target was involved in. For now, it's leverage if I need it but maybe later it is a juicy heist.

Recruit: In my time working for <Contact>, I ended up saving her life. Now she is Indebted and owes me - or us - Favors.

Face: Further locking in our friendship with <Contact> is powerful incentive.

Recruit: I work well with <Contact>, so this will be a good match.

Face: We'll find more reasons to work together now - Leverages on jobs and more.

CK: A private word, <face>? What do you think?
