Each mercenary starts with a single Character Class. This class defines a set of Talents that the merc can train.
Each Class has a tree of Talent nodes which you can Train. Each node can either grant a Talent, an upgrade to a Talent, or other important bonuses like additional Gear slots or permanent Attribute improvements.
Multiclassing[edit | edit source]
Each merc can pick a second Class to multiclass. The merc starts by training the root node of the class tree and then may split their Training and Talent Points across either class tree as desired. See Multiclassing.
Cyber-Class[edit | edit source]
Some classes are considered cyber-classes which indicates that they require a specific type of cybernetic Implant in the merc as a prerequisite to Train in the Class at all. For example, you can only train as a Vanguard if you have a Chameleon Skin cybernetic implant. Undergoing Surgery for the required Implant automatically adds the cyber-class as a secondary Class. If the merc already has a second Class, the Implant cannot be added until the existing second class is removed.
