Yossarian

A Cyber Knight and independent mercenary in the shadow wars fought between the corporations of New Boston. Living by an unusually altruistic personal code, Yossarian's leadership brought his team together.

Yossarian is a muscular, middle eastern man with artificial eyes that has been in the employment of Matsumoto elite Camilla Dumonde. Some rumors pin the two as lovers. Over the course of his rise to power he enhanced his cyberware significantly, with a particular emphasis on defensive upgrades.

Known Cybernetic Upgrades

Yossarian is known to have thermographic and light amplifying cybereyes. He has neural skillwires offering him elevated skills with firearms, tactics, electronics, military piloting, and first aid. He has substantial subdermal plating of synthetic armor over all internal organs. He has a neural interface and a tactical quantum computer (as do all Cyberknights). Finally, he is integrated to synthetic nerves giving him superhuman reaction speeds.

Known Combat Capabilities

Yossarian has proven himself extremely difficult to harm. Camera footage captured at the Real Fruit Co. stairway (which led to Yossarian's compromised safehouse) showed Yossarian shrugging off a direct hit from a fragmentation grenade that detonated one meter away from his torso, without even flinching in pain. Recovered security footage from a city camera compromised by the Blue Ox showed him wearing custom flame resistant heavy body armor and an exotic laser flamethrower, with other weapons doubtless hidden by the low fidelity of the footage. It is unclear if the laser flamethrower has ever been used, or if it primarily serves as an intimidation tool.

Known Associates

Yossarian's original heist team included the following members:

• Catalina - Renowned Gunslinger/Sniper, former member of Brave Star. Current location unknown.
• Lupin - Agent Extreme stealth and assassination specialist with historical ties to both Matsumoto and the Yakuza. Currently employed alongside Yossarian by Camilla Dumonde.
• Shae "Shimmer" Cole -- Face. Former associates within Los Zagales, although they appear hostile now. Currently employed in an unknown capacity by Camilla Dumonde.
• Ion -- Famous Hacker and archrival of the CODEX hacker collective. Fell from corporate citizenship with the destruction of Knight Horizon. Currently employed in an unknown capacity by Camilla Dumonde -- almost certainly working the Matrix on her behalf.

Personality

Yossarian has publicly and privately demonstrated more altruism than most wealthy or powerful residents of the NBZ, often at personal risk. For instance, Yossarian offended the Yakuza boss Tsuki Shige by killing his grandson Shogo while working a job together earlier in Yossarian's career as a Cyberknight. The exact nature of this job isn't known, but Shogo felt such extreme shame that he planned to load up his coat with explosives and publicly detonate them after pronouncing his penance. Knowing that such an action would injure and kill many civilians, rather than let Shogo go through with this, but unable to safely disarm him peacefully, Yossarian killed Shogo himself. Shige and the rest of the Yakuza didn't fully believe Yossarian's explanation for the killing, leaving him on extremely trecherous terms with the Yakuza.

Yossarian has a strange fascination with ancient Earth history, but lacks the intellect as well as the time to properly recover old pre-Matrix records. He appears to have made an oath to spread a supposed religion based upon the game of chess, whose rules have been mostly lost to time. He routinely is scammed by false historians professing to have information on ancient religions, however has occasionally landed upon document fragments from a pre-Matrix world.
