Devices

From Cyber Knights: Flashpoint Wiki

Various devices are scattered throughout a map. Most devices of interest wills be highlighted with the H key. Characters can interact with all devices except security devices. A device may be highlighted as the target of an Objective.

The following types of devices are known:

Security devices
Security devices are sensors sending reports to the Security AI. Active security devices have a detection zone displayed in red on the HUD. When highlighted, security devices are highlighted red. Inactive security devices are not highlighted by the H key and generally do not have a marked detection zone but can be detected and highlighted by moving the cursor over it. Characters cannot interact with Security devices directly, but certain Talents and items can disable or interfere with their operation.
Matrix Hosts
Matrix Hosts are terminals linking to the local Matrix. They can only be used by a Hacker. When highlighted, they are highlighted in cyan. A Matrix Host may be the target of an Objective, but many Matrix Hosts are not. Any Host may give the Hacker access to data or controls over local security. Activating a Matrix terminal initiates a multi-turn interaction with the local Matrix.
Unsecured systems
Unsecured systems are devices which are targets of an Objective. Some unsecured systems require a key to use, which must be found in Lootable Lockboxes. When highlighted, they are highlighted in cyan.
Doors
Doors may be the target of an Objective, in which case they are like other unsecured systems. Other doors are not an Objective but can give the mercenary team shortcuts and alternative routes. When highlighted, they are highlighted in cyan. Doors are opened by interacting with a small terminal screen near the door. Some doors require a key to use, even if the door itself is not the target of an Objective.
Lootable Lockboxes
Lockboxes contain items which can be stolen. Despite the name, lockboxes are generally not locked to the heist team. Loot may include items which can be put into the Safehouse inventory; blueprints which can used in a Nanoforge to craft weapons, armor and mods; and files which can be sold to Contacts. Objectives may require items found in lockboxes, usually a key. When highlighted, lockboxes are highlighted in yellow.

Hovering the cursor over a device opens a tooltip with the name of the device and a description of what it does. Security Devices also have a level; talents and items that affect security devices have level limitations. In the upper right corner of the tooltip is the range of the device to the currently active character, next to a cyan Range Icon.

To interact with a device, the character approaches close to the device. The device can then be clicked to activate interaction. Interaction with a device takes no Action Points and can be done with zero Action Points left. However, interacting with a Matrix Host initiates a multi-turn hacking process; it is a bad idea to enter the Matrix with low Action Points.
