How Does CKF Compare

From Cyber Knights: Flashpoint Wiki

How does CKF compare to similar games?[edit | edit source]

The games that are closest to CKF are XCOM: Chimera Squad, Phantom Doctrine, Invisible Inc (II), and the Shadowrun series by Harebrained Schemes (SRH). XCOM2, II and CKF share a similar flow of alternating between tactical maps and an overworld layer with a plot. SRH and CKF share a similar theme with a focus on hacking as a separate type of encounter.

Many tactical levels in CKF start out like II, and wind up like XCOM2. That is, both stealth and loud combat are expected in CKF; many levels start out with an approach in stealth, and wind up with loud combat when the team is detected. Unlike most levels of XCOM, it is possible to start and finish many levels without detection. Unlike most levels of II, losing stealth is not fatal. CKF supports both styles of play and allows the player to shift between them more than either XCOM or II.

In that sense, CKF is quite similar to Phantom Doctrine, where you start stealthy and if things do not go according to the plan, guns start blazing.

CKF also uses innovation first pioneered by Chimera Squad in tactical squad games, where moves are interlaced and action order is established by initiative. Previous games (XCOM and XCOM2) usually had alternating Player/Enemy turns.
