Base Building

From Cyber Knights: Flashpoint Wiki

The Safehouse is composed of multiple rooms with unique features. Each of the rooms in the Safehouse can be upgraded. There are three fixed rooms at the top level: the Barracks, Command HQ, and Cold Storage; there are eight rooms below those which start out "trashed" and can be cleaned and expanded.

Utilities

There are three types of utilities in the Safehouse: cryo cooling, power and nano-scrubbers. Rooms require varying amounts of these utilities for each upgrade level. Power is distributed radially from the elevator shaft. Cooling and power levels are specific to each room, while nano-scrubbers are a global resource. Each room has its own cooling and power levels and must be upgraded separately. Most room upgrades require a certain cooling and power level, and each upgrade of cooling or power must be started and paid for separately.

Cooling

Cooling capacity of each room can be upgraded independently. The top floor Cold Storage room controls the maximum cooling level of each room. To build the most advanced rooms, the Cold Storage room must be upgraded to increase the maximum cooling level, before the cooling of the room of individual rooms can be upgraded. Both of these must be completed before the room itself can be upgraded.

Power

Power is distributed through the central elevator shaft. This means the outer rooms on the lower levels have an additional requirement: their power must pass through the adjacent room on the same level. This means power in the outer rooms cannot be higher than corresponding inner room.

The three top rooms, and the four rooms adjacent to the trunk can be upgraded individually. But the rating for an outer room cannot exceed the rating for its adjacent inner room. For example, to upgrade power to level three for the outer lower left room, the inner lower left room must have power level three or higher.

The Command HQ controls the maximum power level. To build the most advanced rooms, the Command HQ must be upgraded to increase the maximum power level, before the power of the room can be upgraded. For outer rooms, the power of the corresponding inner room must also be sufficiently high. All three of these must be completed before upgrading the room itself.

Nano-scrubbers

At least one room in the Safehouse should be a Nano-Scrubber room. Each room generates a certain amount of nano-pollution. The nano-scrubber capacity of the Safehouse must be equal or greater to the total nano-pollution produced. If the capacity is insufficient for a new room or upgrade, it cannot be built.

It is suggested that the first Nano-Scrubber room should be on the middle level adjacent to the elevator -- one of the inner rooms on the level rather than one of the outer rooms. The Nano-Scrubber will probably be fully upgraded eventually. This will allow a high-power outer room without requiring power upgrades for the inner room that would not have been need otherwise.

Tasks

On the Safehouse screen, each room has a power level and a cryo cooling level, shown as the "electrical plug" icon and the "snowflake" icon. For rooms which are not yet cleared, the only action to take is to clean it. Click the room and accept the cleaning task. To perform any action on the three rooms on the top level, or other rooms which are active, click the room, and then press R or click the button "manage room" at the upper left of the window. Performing any Base Building task will require time (ranging from hours to weeks) and cash (ranging from under $10k to over $1000k).

The number of Base Building tasks that can be performed at the same time is limited by the Command HQ upgrade level. The minimum is one task at a time. Upgrade the Command HQ to allow multiple tasks to run simultaneously.

Clean Up

If a room is named Trashed Room, the only task that can be done is Clean Up. Clicking on the room will open a button to initiate the Clean Up task. When the task is completed, the Trashed Room will convert to a Clean Room, ready for construction.

Build Room

In a Clean Room, options for Build Module are on the left. All available rooms will be listed. Some room types only allow a single instance in the Safehouse--if you have already constructed that room type, the option will not appear on the list for a Clean Room. Building a room will require a certain amount of time and Money, and some amount of Power, Cryo Cooling, and Nano-Scrubbers. Requirements which are not met are marked in red.

Upgrade Utilities

The upper right side of the Manage Room screen has options for upgrading Power Wires or Cryogenic Cooling. A warning will display if max Power or max Cryo Cooling has been reached, indicating that Command HQ or Cold Storage must be upgraded first.

Upgrade Room

Once a room has been built, the Manage Room screen will have an option on the upper right to upgrade the room. The option will mark how much time, Money, power, and cryo cooling would be needed. Selecting the option will display in the lower left corner how the room attributes would change with this upgrade. The upgrade option also provides a button to Uninstall. Uninstalling will convert the room back to a Clean Room, ready for a different room to be built.

Build Bench

Some rooms house benches, providing the ability to perform one or more operations in the room. The number of benches possible is limited by the upgrade level of the room. A button below the Upgrade Room button will initiate a Build Bench task.

Upgrade Sequence

Suppose a room on the outer lower left room which requires power 3, cooling 2, and produces 6 pollution. The upgrade requires power 4, cooling 3, and produces 8 nano-pollution. Depending on what has already been built, any of the following upgrades may be necessary in order to upgrade the room:

  1. Upgrade Command HQ to generate at least 4 power
  2. Upgrade Cold Storage to generate at least 3 cryo cooling
  3. Upgrade the power in the Nano-Scrubber room to at least 3
  4. Upgrade the Nano-Scrubber room to clean at least 8 nano-pollution
  5. Upgrade the inner lower left room to power 4
  6. Upgrade the outer lower left room to power 4
  7. Upgrade the outer lower left room to cooling 3
  8. Upgrade the outer lower left room

Each upgrade requires time and money. Upgrading a room from Trashed to maximum room level will cost a few million Creds.

Room Types

Base Building can construct a wide range of room types in the Safehouse. The Safehouse cannot fit every possible room type; there are more room types than rooms available. A Safehouse can hold more than one Nano-Scrubber room and more than one NanoFab room, but all other room types are limited to one per Safehouse.
