Power Plays[edit | edit source]
One possible result of an Influence Limit Break is a Power Play. This adds a Power Play tag to the Contact. In addition, certain Contacts can get a special Power Play trait, each with a unique name, due to specific Storylines. This is a sign that the Contact is ready to make a move, to improve their power and capabilities. Influence Limit Breaks cannot generate a Power Play result until the squad is Power Level 3. Storylines also have a minimum Power Level, but that PL might be lower than PL3. This means that some Contacts can get the benefits of the Power Play tag early and may be able to trigger a Power Play Storyline before PL3.
While the Contact has a Power Play tag, they will have better options and weights on future Influence Limit Breaks. In particular, Breaks are more likely to result in upgrades to Services. The most important new option that becomes available is a Power Play Storyline. When the Storyline is triggered, the Contact asks the squad to help them improve their station. If the squad is successful, the Contact gains a new power--usually a rare or unique Service. If the Contact is eligible for another Power Play Storyline, that Storyline could also trigger on a later Influence Limit Break, as long as the Power Play tag remains. If a Contact is lucky, they could get several new Services from Power Plays in quick succession.
The Power Play tag will remain on the Contact until either the squad fails a mission for the Contact or the Contact gets an Exposure Limit Break result which removes the tag. Using a Favor can change the result of the Exposure Limit Break so that the Contact does not lose the Power Play tag.
Compromised[edit | edit source]
One possible result of an Exposure Limit Break is the Compromised status. While the Contact has a Power Play tag, they will have worse options and weights on future Exposure Limit Breaks.
A Contact will retain a Compromised tag until the Contact gets an Influence Limit Break result which removes the tag. Using a Favor can change the result of an Influence Limit Break to try to get the result of removing the Compromised tag.
